Welcome to my realm, where stories are crafted with the ink of truth and passion, where the forgotten are spoken and the hidden is unveiled. ​ What led me here? Hailing from Georgia (Sakartvelo), it is no surprise to have a deep connection with the mesmerizing art form of embroidery, tightly woven into our culture and traditions. And, of course, a bit of luck is needed to meet people who share your excitement about the art field and the goal of spreading it to others. I graduated with a degree in art and culture management, but I also have work experience in many other fields. One page? It surely will not be enough. In addition to my primary hobbies, such as singing, reading, and exploring new places, I am deeply committed to relocating snails from walkways to the safety of nearby grassy areas during rain showers. I am Sambreen, an embroidery enthusiast! I am excited to be a part of Embroydica, where I get to explore and write about the beautiful world of embroidery. ​ My interest in embroidery started with my mom, who was amazing with satin stitches and made lovely designs on fabric. Inspired by her, I have learned quite a bit about embroidery. Also, as a fashion design student, I have developed a keen interest in the world of embroidery and textile prints. I have got good at Kantha stitch, a traditional embroidery of West Bengal. Lucknow's Chikankari and Toda embroidery of Nilgiris in Tamil Nadu are among the top of my list of learning and exploring. Embroydica has given me an amazing opportunity to learn and explore more about the world of embroidery, and together, we are building an amazing platform for all the embroidery enthusiasts out there, just like us! While I'm just starting out in this field, my experience writing for fashion brands and as a ghostwriter has given me a unique outlook that I bring to Embroydica. I am excited about discovering and sharing the rich stories behind each piece of embroidery in India and around the world. In my free time, I enjoy designing fashion pieces, sewing and crocheting, which deepen my appreciation for textile arts. I am a freelance writer located in Edmonton, Alberta. ​I am a contributor to Embroydica. Embroidering since before I was 10 years old, I had dabbled in several techniques like cross stitch, thread wrapped buttons, kumihimo, sashiko, and hitomezashi. My writing on the subjects of textiles have appeared in Embroidery Canada, Dolls, Backwoods Home, Moshi Moshi, Edmonton Stitcher, and PieceWork Magazine.
